History
The Global FrameNet Association e. V. is a charitable association under German law with the aim of fostering research in frame semantics as well as interdisciplinary and synergetic activities. It was founded on August 10th, 2023, at a meeting during the ICLC 16 conference at the Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf.
The founding of the association was preceded by various multilingual and international research activities such as the series of International FrameNet Workshops or the Global FrameNet Tuesdays (see Events section). It grew out of the Global FrameNet initiative which was started at the International FrameNet Workshop in Juiz the Fora in 2016.
After an initial phase of building up structures and processes, the association took over the Global FrameNet web site in July 2026 that had previously been handled by FrameNet Brasil. The web site is a point of convergence for framenets all over the world and hosts, i. a., data such as the Shared Annotation Task data in various languages.
